Rev. Wheatley Bell of North Park CME Church

Joshua 6 Recovery

Rev. Wheatley M. Bell was born October 19, 1955 in Odessa Texas to Rev W. S. and Rosa Lee Bell. He is an only child and the father of four Rondia, Wheatena, Ricardo (deceased), and Trevor. He is grandfather of three. Just prior to his first birthday his parents moved to McKinney, Texas where he grew up, went to and completed school. After graduation from high school, Rev. Bell attended Devry Institute of Technology (Dallas, Texas) and Grayson County Community College, (Sherman, Texas) before enlisting in the U. S. Army where he served proudly for the next 7 years 10 months on active duty, after which he enlisted in the U. S Army Reserve for an additional 7 years honorably.

While in the military he completed numerous technical and leadership courses to include the Primary Non-Commissioned Officers and the Aviation Maintenance Supervisors and Technical Inspectors Courses. Rev. Bells civilian education includes courses with The University Of Maryland Overseas Campus (Wertheim, Germany) and Embry Riddle Aeronautical University (Ft. Ord, California). Upon returning to civilian life he enrolled and graduated from Columbia School of Broadcasting (Dallas, Texas) with honors in Radio and Television Advertising Sales.

On October 18, 1986 at approximately 11:30 pm the enemy tried for the third time to kill him in a major car accident, But God said no -- it was at that time that he surrendered his life to the Lord Jesus Christ. Although this journey has not been easy the Lord has forged a unique relationship with Rev. Bell through many trials and temptations, developing him for ministry for such a time as this.

Rev. Bell is a former addict and alcoholic, who has suffered homelessness, among other things, whom God has delivered and called to service. While in rehab in 1998 the spirit compelled him to help others who had similar experiences. As he was attending an overcomers group one night, the teacher spoke about the 6th Chapter of Joshua and the miraculous and systematic way God delivered the walled city of Jericho into the hands of His chosen people. Through his falls and failures in the wilderness (and he had returned to the previous lifestyle that crippled and literally paralyzed his destiny) God lifted him once again out of the murk and mire to be a witness to the Lords patience and longsuffering, to testify of His grace and power to restore. Often you will hear him declare "To God Be The Glory-Amen."

Today Rev. Wheatley Bell is assigned to the North Park CME Church as clergy in residence, under the leadership and mentoring of Rev. Kenneth Hollingshed. He is Director of Evangelism for the local body, he works diligently with the Boys to Men Ministry, the Male Chorus, the Sanctuary Choir, He is a praise and worship leader, assistant Adult Sunday School Teacher, member of the Hallelujah House Ministry Center, a member and participant in GODNIC (God Opening Doors For Newly Inspired Christians) and founder and Director of Joshua 6 Ministries, a ministry for continued recovery. Recovery takes support. Thank God for those who have supported and continue to encourage him.
